Boost your Immune System &
February the month that offers us a challenge. Yes, it is still winter, yet
longer days and brighter sun tempts us! It may be the shortest month on the
calendar but for many of us it seems like the longest. So while we work to get
ever so close to that wonderful glimpse of spring, here are some tips to keep
your immune system strong and able to ward off the February ills.

Sleep Well : 6-8
hours a night-Sleep can rebuild the body’s defenses.

Work Out :
Aerobic exercise can help build long term immunity to defend you body
against viruses.

Laugh :
Positive emotions associated with laughing can decrease stress hormones and
increase immune cells.

Have Faith :
Studies show that people who attend weekly or regular religious or spiritual
services have a lower level of cancer and disease causing organisms.

Eat Power Foods : Improve
or maintain you immunity by eating foods rich in Vitamins A, B6, C, E, Zinc
and Iron.

Say No to Antibiotics :
NEVER take antibiotics for colds. Over us of antibiotics can
sometimes suppress the immune system. These should only be use for bacterial
infections.

Go Easy on the Alcohol :
Alcohol can smother cells that fight infection and leave you more
prone to illness.

Be an Optimist : Having
a positive outlook under stress can make you and your immune system feel
high. A person’s outlook might affect responses to common immune
challenges such as colds.
Remember to see your health care provider if colds persist. Try to keep
drinking water throughout a cold or the flu, it keeps you hydrated and flushes
the bad germs from your system.
American Heart
Month
Isn’t it very appropriate that February is National Heart Month? On the 14th
day of this month we celebrate love and we celebrate the good love does for the
heart. Did you know that heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in
this country? Many of the factors that cause heart disease are controllable.
