August
just started, but we’ve already been sweating our way through the hottest
summer on record. On top of that, last
week’s tornado/storm left many of our homes, businesses and street lights
without power for several days. Not to mention the 5 am earthquake last
month! Here’s hoping things turn
around in August so we can enjoy these last few days of the summer! New

Spring Health: Spinal Muscular Atrophy
Awareness Month |
||
|
Spinal
Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disease. The motor neurons affect the
voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as crawling, walking,
head and neck control, and swallowing. It is a relatively common "rare
disorder": approximately 1 in 6000 babies born are affected, and about 1
in 40 people are genetic carriers.
