Cherry
Smoke
Meet Fish. Fish was born in
fire, and takes care of himself. In the economically devastated area
between Pittsburgh and West Virginia, he makes a dangerous living in the
underground boxing matches. His younger brother Duffy patches his cuts
between rounds, and tries to keep him out of jail. Cherry, a local
homeless girl, falls in love with Fish, and they build a world around
themselves. For Duffy and his girl Bug, life is about finding a way to
survive. But Fish is not put together that way. He has restless blood,
and he’s always fought himself and his friends out of trouble. This
magical, visceral, uncompromising drama launched McManus’ career across
the globe.
